Is anyone actually grinding Stake's ongoing races and promos?

I'm on Stake every evening grinding the races tbh πŸ˜… mostly for the fun of it, dunno if the prize pools are realistic for a casual player like us or not, haven't dug through the full terms myself either. The wagering racks up quick though, ah well. My take, if you're spinning anyway the races are basically free value on top, I wouldn't deposit extra just chasing leaderboard spots. Anyone here actually finished high enough in one to get a piece of the pool? Curious if it pays or if it's just the top handful of whales splitting everything πŸ”₯🎰

I grind the races on a small bankroll and treat them like free rolls on top of normal wagering πŸ˜… never chase the leaderboard though, that's where guys torch C$ they didn't plan to spend. The real value for a casual player is if the promos line up with slots you'd spin anyway, otherwise the wagering just eats your balance. YYC87 you're right that it racks up quick, I stopped depositing extra just to climb and only count what I was betting regardless.
Cashing out in time is half the battle.

  • I grind the races on Stake too, but only with whatever I'd be wagering anyway. Back in the day the old slots hit different and promos felt like actual gravy on top, these days it's more like the promo is the reason you're playing at all, which is exactly the trap. The leaderboard chasers are the guys who end up crying about their rent money by Friday, seen it a hundred times. Grizzled called it, treat it like a free roll on top of normal play and never chase. If the wagering for the promos makes you bet more than your usual evening, walk away from the tab for a week, they'll run another race. Greed ate more bankrolls than any cold streak ever did πŸ˜„

  • This thread hits home, I only started wagering there recently and the races feel like gravy if you'd be spinning anyway πŸ˜… chasing the board seems like the trap then?

  • Yeah chasing the board feels like the trap to me too πŸ˜… I only started wagering there last month and the race ranks up fast, so I just spin what I'd play anyway and hope for luck 🀞

  • Agree with Grizzled on this one, the race only pays if it rides on wagering you'd do anyway. My rule is same bet size I'd spin regardless, and if the leaderboard jump would need tripling my per-spin to climb a rank, I skip it. Done that chase once, bankroll discipline wins in the end πŸ’Έ

  • RobToronto that same-bet-size rule makes sense to me πŸ™ my caveat is even "casual" spins count toward the race so I sometimes keep going longer than planned πŸ˜… do you set a stop point or just eyeball it?

  • Eyeballing it is how a session doubles, Vancouver_87. I set my per-spin before I even open the race tab, and the wagering just stacks on whatever I'd run anyway. Only chased a rank once, needed way more volume than the payout justified, never again 🎰

  • This thread is talking me down off a ledge honestly πŸ˜… I just made my first deposit and almost chased a rank on the Stake race last night before I read the terms. YYZ99 that pre-set bet size rule is going on a sticky note for me. Does the wagering on their promos count all slots equally or do some games contribute less? Asking before I burn through what's left of my bankroll πŸ™

@EVPro1974 good save, honestly. One catch nobody mentions: the race payout only means something if you actually withdraw it, so screenshot your cashout when you hit, don't just admire the balance. And read which games count for the wagering before you spin, some contribute way less. Long run the race is a trim on your losses, never a win on its own.

  • Same boat here, EVPro1974, first deposit not long ago and the race tab almost got me too πŸ˜… so the sticky note idea is going on my screen literally. Still learning bonuses, maybe I'm being dumb but can I check I've got the rule right? If I just spin my normal bet size, whatever I'd wager anyway counts toward the race for free, and the only trap is bumping the bet or playing longer to climb ranks? Because that's basically what I almost did last night, told myself "one more rank" and had to close the tab πŸ™ Does the race payout change much between ranks or is it mostly the top few that are worth it?

  • RobCashout yeah the rule is dead simple, set your bet size before you even look at the race tab and never bump it up just to climb ranks 🎰 the wagering on Stake races stacks itself on spins you were gonna do anyway, free value πŸ’° chasing a rank wrecked me once, needed way more volume than the payout was worth... never again lol πŸ”₯
The hit is close, I can feel it.

  • It sounds like you need serious volume to actually make money, right? How do I know when I’ve done enough to clear the wagering requirement? πŸ€”πŸ˜…
